Following Monday’s announcement by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Center for Mental Health that it would provide $400,000 to the St. Clair County Community Mental Health Authority, U.S. Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) thanked the agency.
“Addressing both mental and physical health issues is critical to our well-being,” Miller said. “I applaud the decision by HHS to grant the St. Clair County Community Mental Health Authority $400,000 and hope these funds will help enhance the critical health care services provided to local residents by their dedicated staff.”
The grant will be used by the St. Clair County Community Mental Health Authority to implement its health care integration project, which is aimed at increasing primary health care services for mentally ill residents in the Michigan county.
The St. Clair County Community Mental Health Authority, which covers the metropolitan area of Northeast Detroit and Port Huron in Michigan, provides public services and support to adults with mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, individuals with developmental disabilities and persons with co-occurring substance use disorders.
