U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) traveled to Ukraine last week in a multi-day mission that included time on the front lines and a one-on-one meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss strategic U.S. support.
The congressman spent time embedded with Ukrainian special forces under live artillery fire and surveyed the devastation created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“I came to see this war not through reports, but through the eyes of those risking everything to defend freedom,” Rep. Fitzpatrick said. “The Ukrainian soldiers are not just protecting their homeland—they are holding the line for the entire democratic world. This is a defining moment. Their courage must be met with action, not applause. The outcome of this war will shape the future of global democracy, and the United States must lead with clarity and purpose.”
Rep. Fitzpatrick serves as co-chair of the Ukraine Caucus and also chairman of Central Intelligence Agency Subcommittee on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
In the congressman’s meeting with Zelenskyy, they discussed the U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire and long-term security guarantees. Rep. Fitzpatrick also met with Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk to advance bilateral legislative coordination and accelerate efforts supporting Ukraine’s democratic and military resilience.
“Peace through strength is not just a doctrine—it is a responsibility,” Rep. Fitzpatrick said. “The outcome in Ukraine will shape the future of global democracy—and the free world must rise to meet this moment with unity and resolve.”
Since the beginning of the war, Fitzpatrick has led bipartisan efforts to deliver critical military, humanitarian, and intelligence assistance to Ukraine.
He most recently sponsored sweeping sanctions targeting Russia and any nation or actor complicit in sustaining its war against Ukraine. The bipartisan Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, H.R. 2548, was introduced on April 2 by all four Ukraine Caucus co-chairs.
