U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) on Oct. 10 led five of his Republican colleagues in introducing a resolution that would express the support of the U.S. House of Representatives to award Trump the Nobel Peace Prize.
“No one deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than Donald J. Trump, the Peace President. In nine short months, he’s negotiated seven peace deals, not including the recent announcement of a historic agreement between Israel and Hamas to release the hostages and end hostilities,” Rep. Carter said. “He has already saved countless lives, and the world is forever indebted to him for his courageous pursuit of peace.”
The congressman sponsored House Resolution (H.Res.) 799 alongside original cosponsors including U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL).
If needed, Rep. Carter said he intends to file a discharge petition that would force a vote on the resolution, which cites the administration’s deals between Azerbaijan and Armenia; Cambodia and Thailand; Israel and Iran; Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo; India and Pakistan; Egypt and Ethiopia; Serbia and Kosovo; and Israel and Hamas.
Currently, H.Res. 799 is under consideration by the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee.
On the same day H.Res. 799 was proposed, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced its decision to award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, who subsequently accepted the award in Trump’s honor.
