Tom Reed holds New York Manufacturing Summit

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) completed his 2015 Manufacturing Summit last week in Jamestown, New York, deeming the event a huge success.

“We had great turnout from across the region,” Reed said. “The information shared today will have a big impact on our manufacturing companies. I believe that Western New York can once again become a global leader in manufacturing and that resurgence starts today.”

At the summit, officials from a number of government agencies, trade representatives, as well as leaders of the manufacturing segment came together to discuss the current state of manufacturing and the future of the industry in the region. Numerous information panels weighed in with suggestions and opportunities on growing business by exporting products overseas.

A legislative panel including Reed, along with fellow Reps. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) and Chris Collins (R-NY), was featured.
Participants at the summit asked questions about pending legislation that can bolster the economy in the region.

“With the resurgence of affordable domestically produced energy, the manufacturing landscape across the United States has been drastically reshaped for the positive,” Thompson said. “Today’s summit helped further illustrate that tax, trade, energy and workforce policies play a vital role in keeping good-paying, family-sustaining jobs here at home, while also keeping our country competitive in the global market.”
