DeGette hosts 21st Century Cures panel

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) recently hosted a panel of national and local health care leaders, thinkers and innovators in Denver to discuss new cures and treatments.

The group, which met Sept. 3, provided information on the discovery, development and delivery of modern medicine.

This is the latest event sponsored by the bi-partisan 21st Century Cures initiative, which was formed by DeGette and House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.).

“I am excited to have Colorado’s health and research leaders join top federal officials to discuss ways to speed the delivery of medical cures,” DeGette said. “The 21st Century Cures initiative will support America’s preeminence in medical research for decades to come, and Colorado’s experts offer valuable insights toward this effort.”

Colorado is the sixth state in which the 21st Century Cures has held events in recent weeks. Past events have taken place in Florida, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The initiative was formed to take a comprehensive look at the steps to accelerate the pace of cures in America. 21st Century Cures seeks to follow the entire process, including discovery of clues, the development process, and using digital medicine and social media at the treatment and delivery stage.
