Griffin touts job creation on Labor Day

Congressman Tim Griffin, R-Arkansas,  took time out of his Labor Day to discuss the importance of the creation of more jobs.

Griffin, who represents the state’s 2nd Congressional District, said one of the most pressing matters that citizens in the district bring up is their concern for the country’s future, particularly how there needs to be an increase in job opportunities for those able-bodied workers seeking employment.

“Labor Day is a reminder that far too many in our state, and across the country, are still looking for jobs or have quit looking altogether,” Griffin said. “The House has passed bills to help spur private sector job growth and strengthen our economy. I will continue to push for policies that grow good-paying jobs and aid hardworking families.”

Griffin serves on the Ways and Means Committee, and was first elected to office in the 2010 General Election. He will not be seeking a third term in the House, but is nominated for the office of lieutenant governor for Arkansas in the upcoming general election Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Before his election, he served as interim United States attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas after being appointed by former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.
