Pfluger, Burgum participate in Permian Basin e-frac site tour, roundtable

Last week, U.S. Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) toured a Diamondback Energy e-frac site alongside U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum to see the cutting-edge innovation taking place in the heart of the Permian Basin, the largest, most productive oil and natural gas region in the United States, spanning roughly 75,000 square miles across West Texas and southeastern New Mexico.

“As the crown jewel of American energy production, the Permian Basin is the cornerstone of American jobs, national security, and economic prosperity. It was a privilege to welcome Secretary Burgum to see its impact firsthand,” Rep. Pfluger said on May 7. “The world depends on the Permian Basin, and together, we are focused on unleashing its full potential.”

Following their tour, Rep. Pfluger and Secretary Burgum participated in a roundtable discussion with industry executives and local leaders to discuss their experiences on the ground and how Congress and the administration might help unlock and maintain American energy dominance.

“From touring a Diamondback e-frac site to a productive roundtable with industry leaders, our focus was on advancing practical solutions for today’s challenges,” added the congressman. “Secretary Burgum has been a strong leader in advancing common-sense deregulatory efforts and fostering a more predictable regulatory environment that allows businesses to thrive.”

The secretary called the Diamondback Energy operation important to the future of the nation.

“Expanding and unleashing domestic energy production in regions such as the Permian Basin is a matter of both economic strength and national security because every barrel produced supports American jobs, strengthens our economy, and reduces dependence on foreign adversaries,” said Burgum. “The Trump administration is grateful for the hardworking men and women on the ground who are helping power a new era of American strength and innovation through the production of reliable, affordable energy.

“We will continue advancing responsible energy development, cutting unnecessary red tape and unleashing America’s full energy potential for the benefit of every American,” he added.
