Ernst’s resolution recognizing National Veterans Small Business Week passes Senate

A resolution spearheaded by U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) that recognizes the week of Nov. 3-7, 2025, as National Veterans Small Business Week was unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Ernst, chair of the Senate Committee on Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship and a combat veteran, led 62 of her colleagues in cosponsoring the bipartisan Senate Resolution 482.

“Ensuring veterans have every opportunity to pursue the American Dream is personal to me,” Sen. Ernst said on Nov. 5. “They fiercely protected our freedoms during their service and, now as civilians, exemplify the American entrepreneurial spirit.”

“During National Veterans Small Business Week, join me in celebrating these men and women who have served their country and now their communities,” the senator added.

There are more than 1.65 million veteran-owned small businesses in the United States, employing nearly 3.3 million individuals.

The resolution recognizes the importance of creating policies that promote a business-friendly environment for small business owners that is free of burdensome red tape and expresses appreciation for the continued service by veterans of the United States through small business ownership and entrepreneurship.

“I’m glad to be part of this resolution honoring our veterans and their businesses in our communities. This is one small way we can continue to express our gratitude for the sacrifices these Americans made for our country,” said U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-IN), a cosponsor of the legislation.
