Legislation led on Jan. 27 by U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) would ensure working Americans with disabilities are not forced to retire from their jobs in order to keep their Medicaid coverage and benefits.
“Americans with disabilities should be able to continue working without losing coverage or care through Medicaid when they turn 65,” Sen. Blackburn said, noting that the bill “would allow adults with disabilities to continue receiving Medicaid coverage and benefits after they turn 65 instead of being forced to retire.”
The Ensuring Access to Medicaid Buy-in Programs Act, S. 3690, soon will be voted on by the U.S. Senate as part of the three-bill minibus appropriations package that passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week and funds the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies, according to information provided by the senator’s staff.
S. 3690, which is endorsed by the Bipartisan Policy Center, is under consideration by the U.S. Senate Finance Committee.
