U.S. Chamber honors Shuster with Spirit of Enterprise Award

U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA) was honored last week with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Spirit of Enterprise Award for the 113th Congress.

The award, given to members of Congress who support pro-growth, pro-jobs agendas, was presented to Shuster during an event at the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

“American businesses can thrive if the government gets out of the way with its burdensome regulations and high taxes,” Shuster said. “I appreciate the U.S. Chamber recognizing my work on behalf of the people of the Ninth Congressional District, and I look forward to continuing my efforts to encourage new job growth and innovation for our businesses.”

During each session of Congress, the U.S. Chamber works to identify key legislative initiatives on members’ scorecards. Lawmakers are scored based on their involvement in legislation that promotes growth and job creation. During the session, Shuster’s H.R. 3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act, was signed into law. The measure aims to bolster the region’s infrastructure by reducing regulations, streamlining project delivery and promoting fiscally responsible policies for waterways.

“Chairman Shuster is a proven ally to the business community and a champion of pro-growth policies that bolster the economy,” Maggie Sheely, congressional and public affairs manager of the Great Lakes Region at the U.S. Chamber. “The U.S. Chamber applauds his continued commitment to job creation in the Ninth District and across the country.”

Shuster also supported several measures during the session, including the Northern Route Approval Act, a measure tied to the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, and the Authority for Mandate Delay Act, which aims to delay Obamacare’s employer mandate.
