Stivers named chairman of House Rules Subcommittee

U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) announced this week that he will serve as chairman of the House Subcommittee on Rules and Organization  for the 114th Congress.

As chairman, Strivers will lead the subcommittee in guiding the policies, processes and procedures of the House, including the internal operations of the chamber as well as the working relationship between the House and the Senate.

“I look forward to working with (Rules Committee) Chairman (Pete) Sessions and fellow members of the Rules Committee to advance an agenda that will put American families first,” Stivers said. “It’s a great honor and responsibility to help shape the policy and debate on the issues that matter most.”

One important role Stivers will play is working to determine what legislation reaches the House floor to receive a vote, as well as managing the rules for how the full House body debates each bill.

“It is a pleasure to announce Congressman Stivers as one of our two Rules Subcommittee chairmen,” Sessions said. “This assignment reflects his strengths and interests, as well as those who will serve on his subcommittee this Congress. Stivers is a valuable asset to our committee, and I look forward to working with him on the important issues we discuss in the Rules Committee each week.”
