Congresswoman receives U.S. Chamber’s Spirit of Enterprise award

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored U.S. Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) on Wednesday with its annual Spirit of Enterprise award in recognition of her continued support of pro-jobs, pro-growth legislation and policies.

The honor is presented each year to members of Congress who support pro-growth policies that aim to nurture business activity, economic growth and job creation.

“Growing up, I helped run my family’s marina business, so I understand how difficult government overreach can make it to grow or even maintain a business,” Miller said. “In fact, it was a new onerous marina tax proposed by the local township that propelled me into public service.”

Miller said she has experienced the difficulty of running a business, leading her to advocate for policies that facilitate entrepreneurship and ingenuity, instead of stifling it with over-regulation.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and I will continue to fight for pro-job solutions and policies that support American businesses,” Miller said.

“For 50 years, through our How They Voted scorecard, the U.S. Chamber has been recognizing legislators from both sides of the aisle who have worked to pass legislation and enact policies that bolster our country’s economy, create jobs and keep our nation’s spirit of enterprise alive,” Thomas Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said. “The Spirit of Enterprise award honors those members of Congress like Congresswoman Candice Miller, who has recognized the need and shown a commitment to pro-growth policies in the second session of the 113th Congress.”
