As the second open enrollment period approaches for HealthCare.gov, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) said on Friday that the Obama administration has not been transparent about key provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
CNBCCassidy, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said the administration failed to “shoot straight” with the American people and has been reluctant to share “meaningful or relevant” information in an appearance on CNBC.
“There is no doubt that if there were positive news to spread, the administration would take to its megaphone and shout it from the rooftops, but the sad reality is that this law has led to canceled plans, fewer choices, higher costs and limited access to doctors,” Cassidy said. “The law was built on the president’s broken promises, and the White House has been focused on damage control ever since. The American people deserve to know the facts, especially when it involves their personal health-care options and potential costs.”
The federal government has failed to disclose the premium rates that insurers plan to charge for plans sold on the online marketplace in 2015, how many people have enrolled in plans with each insurer and how many people signed up during a special enrollment period, CNBC reports.
