Sessions praises NDAA passage in the House

U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) commended the smooth passing of the bipartisan Carl Levin and Howard P. ‘Buck’ McKeon National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Thursday.

The bill will provide the U.S. military with the appropriate amount of funding needed to proceed with operations through fiscal year 2015.

“I’m proud to support this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which ensures that our nation’s military is sufficiently equipped to protect us at home and abroad,” Sessions said. “The legislation provides the necessary authorities and funding for America’s military, and does so in a timely fashion.”

The bill, which had to fall in line with the budget that was approved by the House earlier in the year, will provide support to those currently serving in the armed forces and their families.

“At the same time, the bill makes difficult choices in order to conform to the funding levels provided in the House-passed budget,” Sessions said. “I … urge my colleagues in the Senate to join us in supporting the brave men and women who defend our great nation.”

The bill is named after current lawmakers, Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mi.) and Rep. Howard P. ‘Buck’ McKeon (R-Calif.), who are the outgoing chairman of the Senata and House Armed Services committee.
