Kay Granger honored for supporting manufacturing issues

Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) recently received the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence for her Congressional voting record on manufacturing issues.

A NAM advisory committee, made up of executives from a range of different size manufacturing companies, designates key votes and honors members of the House and Senate who support manufacturing at least 70 percent of the time.

“Manufacturers in Texas and throughout the United States are making a comeback, creating jobs, making more products and making them better than ever before,” Aric Newhouse, NAM senior vice president of policy and government relations, said. “However, manufacturers are often disproportionately impacted by decisions made by policymakers in Washington. The NAM is proud to stand with lawmakers like Rep. Granger who understand what is at stake and seek to implement policies that will foster innovation, growth and competitiveness.”

A total of 278 senators and representatives earned the NAM distinction in the 113th Congress.

Granger has represented Texas’ 12th District in the House of Representatives since 1997. Born in Greenville, Texas in 1943, Granger previously served as mayor of Fort Worth from 1991 to 1995. She was educated at Texas Wesleyan University and serves on the Committee on Appropriations.
