New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Wednesday that his state will enter into a partnership with ConnectAmericas.com, a social media platform that links Latin American and Caribbean endeavors with business opportunities in North America.
New Jersey is the first state to partner with ConnectAmericas, an online investment platform that assists emerging Latin American companies in entering new markets. It was developed by Inter-American Development Bank with support from Alibaba, DHL, Google and Visa.
“This partnership will serve as a facilitator in strengthening economic ties with Latin America and the Caribbean – particularly with Mexico,” Christie said. “As New Jersey’s second largest trading partner already, we know that expanding that relationship, and building new ties with others in the region, is incredibly important for our economy moving forward. Our joint agreement will result in greater opportunities to work together by increasing access to information as we conduct business and work on economic issues among our countries.”
The partnership follows a recent symposium that was held in Mexico City called “Invest in New Jersey,” which highlighted the advantages of doing business in the state, and included a roundtable with New Jersey business leaders and a keynote address given by Christie.
