Rep. Griffin looks into shortage of VA benefits

Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Ark.) looked into an issue with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs after more than 12,000 veterans recently discovered their disability payments were shorted and turned to their congressional representative for answers.

“My office was contacted by Arkansas veterans whose disability checks were shorted,” Griffin said. “We reached out to the VA, and after investigation, the VA informed us of a programming error and is now working to reissue payments to veterans by next week.”

“I am closely monitoring this situation and will continue working to ensure Arkansas veterans receive the disability payments they earned,” Griffin said.

The congressman urges his constituents to call his office if they have any further questions.

Griffin is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and serves on the Ways and Means Committee. He was first elected to office in the 2010 General Election.

He will not be seeking a third term in the House, but is nominated for the office of lieutenant governor for Arkansas in the upcoming general election Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Before his election, he served as interim United States attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas after being appointed by former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.
