Senate approves Daines’ bipartisan resolution designating National Park Week in April

The U.S. Senate on April 6 approved a bipartisan resolution offered on the same day by U.S. Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) and more than 60 of his colleagues marking April 16 through April 24 as National Park Week.

The Senate gave unanimous consent to Senate Resolution (S.Res.) 582, which is sponsored by U.S. Sen. Angus King, Jr. (I-ME). Sen. Daines is among 61 original cosponsors of the bipartisan resolution.

“Our national parks help set us apart from the rest of the world, and in Montana, we have some of the best,” said Sen. Daines, ranking member of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks. “Enjoying Montana’s great outdoors isn’t just a favorite pastime, it’s part of our way of life.”

S.Res. 582 “encourages the people of the United States and the world to responsibly visit, experience, recreate in, and support the treasured national parks of the United States, according to the text of the resolution, and in honor of National Park Week, entrance into all national parks will be free on April 16.

“This National Park Week, I encourage folks to get outside and find their park,” said Sen. Daines.

The resolution now heads to the U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.
