Reschenthaler, Miller to co-chair new Appalachian caucus

U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and U.S. Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV) recently announced they will serve as co-chairs of the new Congressional Appalachian Caucus that aims to promote policies that stimulate economic growth throughout the 13-state region of Appalachia.

“This caucus will serve as a voice for the small towns in Appalachia who have been overlooked and left behind,” said Rep. Reschenthaler, who also serves as Chief Deputy Whip in the U.S. House. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to promote policies that will create jobs, strengthen families, protect senior citizens, and generate economic growth throughout the region.”

The Congressional Appalachian Caucus will focus on energy, healthcare, transportation, and broadband policies for the 26.3 million residents who live in Appalachia and surrounding regions.

Rep. Miller called Appalachia a beautiful part of the United States. “Abundant with natural resources, we supply America with energy resources, agriculture, and the hardest working people in the country,” she said. “We are a strong people and I’m looking forward to this caucus bringing forth solutions and opportunities for all of Appalachia.”
