Blackburn launches Senate task force to target federal fraud and waste

Sen. Marsha Blackburn

U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) on Tuesday joined several of her Republican colleagues in unveiling a new Senate Anti-Fraud Task Force aimed at rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse across federal programs.

“Over the past year, the Trump administration has done phenomenal work to uncover widespread fraud schemes where criminals have stolen billions of dollars with zero consequences,” Sen. Blackburn said. “It is outrageous how long Democrats have looked the other way while fraudsters steal from hard-working American taxpayers.”

The panel will examine weaknesses in government systems and recommend ways to strengthen accountability and better safeguard taxpayer dollars, according to Sen. Blackburn, who is joined by eight other Republican senators on the task force.

“It’s time for oversight and accountability to protect the integrity of federal programs,” she said.
