Renacci: Infrastructure-funding debate ‘a positive step’

U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci’s (R-OH) Bridge Sustainable Infrastructure Act was introduced as an amendment during markup of the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act late last week.

Renacci considered the amendment as “a positive step forward as we look at solutions to invest in our nation’s infrastructure” even though it was eventually withdrawn.

“We need to change the way we think about investing in our transportation because the American people deserve a real solution to improve our nation’s infrastructure — the lifeline of our communities,” Renacci said.

Renacci said the longer government waits to fix the country’s “crumbling infrastructure” the more expense it require to do so.

“My hope is that the Bridge Sustainable Infrastructure Act will continue to gain momentum and consideration in Congress as the long-term, common-sense solution to fix our deteriorating infrastructure,” Renacci said.
