Jenkins introduces bill emphasizing cancer accreditation programs

U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) on Oct. 22 introduced a bill that recognizes the importance of accreditation for cancer programs in Kansas and across the country.

“Healthcare works best when people everywhere have all the information they need to make informed decisions,” Jenkins said. “Having an accreditation program ensures folks know they are attending a high-quality cancer program as well as giving cancer programs a goal to aim for. We are fortunate to have multiple accredited programs in Kansas, and I am proud to recognize their services and what they have accomplished. This bipartisan resolution highlights the sort of commonsense steps Congress can take to put patients in the driving seat of the own healthcare choices.”

Accreditation is granted by the American College of Surgeons to programs that provide comprehensive, high-quality and multidisciplinary patient-centered care.

Jenkins has represented Kansas’s 2nd District in the House of Representatives since 2009. Born in Holton, Kansas, in 1963, Jenkins previously served as state treasurer from 2003 to 2008. Jenkins was educated at Kansas State University and Weber State College and married to Scott Jenkins.
She serves on the following committees: Committee on Financial Services and Ways and Means Committee
