Crenshaw cheers House passage of Veterans Information Modernization Act

Furthering the cause of bringing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to task on its failure to deliver adequate medical care, U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw (R-FL) voted for the Veterans Information Modernization Act, which passed last week by a resounding vote of 408-0.

The legislation would direct the VA secretary to submit an annual report to Congress outlining the Veterans Health Administration’s efforts to provide hospital care, medical services and nursing-home care to ailing veterans.

“I am 100 percent committed to making sure our veterans receive all the benefits that they have earned and deserve, and when it comes to health care, there is clearly more work to be done,” Crenshaw, a member of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, said.

The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

“The measure requires the VA to provide an annual report to Congress on the types and costs of the health care services they are providing and deserves swift passage in the Senate,” Crenshaw said. “The clock is ticking for our veterans, who without delay deserve efficient, cost-effective health care for their service to our country.”

Crenshaw has represented Florida in the House since 2001. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1944, Crenshaw previously served as a member of the Florida Senate from 1986-1994. He was educated at the University of Georgia and University of Florida.
