U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins discusses support of new healthcare legislation

During Tuesday’s weekly press conference with fellow Republican lawmakers, U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) discussed how President Obama’s broken healthcare laws are causing problems for Americans that require medical care and outlined the provisions in a number of healthcare-related bills that were presented in the House this week, all of which protect American seniors and other citizens from Obamacare’s ineffective programs.

“Any day now we will be hearing the Supreme Court decision on the Obamacare subsidy case,” Jenkins said. “And, regardless of the outcome, Republicans will continue to be committed to empowering Americans to make their own healthcare decisions, choose the healthcare they want and the doctors that they need.”

Jenkins focused her statements on the House’s consideration and debate on legislation which would thwart the efforts of bureaucrats within the Obama administration to ration healthcare for senior citizens. Republicans plan to eliminate the controversial Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) — a 15-member agency that has growing influence and power to change Medicare and Medicaid payment rates and rules — and repealing the medical device tax, creating an environment that encourages innovation within the medical device industry.

“These bills are about more than simply reining in Washington’s power,” Jenkins said. “They are about putting people first to ensure that folks are living better and healthier lives.”
