U.S. Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) said on Wednesday that the Chautauqua Center will receive a federal grant for $702,667 through the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.
The Chautauqua Center will use the grant to build a new medical facility that will provide critical access to quality health care for rural residents in Chautauqua County.
“Fighting for access to health care in rural areas is one of my priorities, and it is exciting to see more affordable, quality care coming to Chautauqua County,” Reed said. “I care about quality medical care for our residents. This is vital to our success and quality of life throughout Western New York.”
The Chautauqua Center was given the grant for its efforts to provide accessible health care to rural areas. The exact location of the facility is still being determined, but it is expected to serve approximately 5,000 people in the first year.
“The new site will provide a number of services, including but not limited to primary medical care, behavioral and mental health services, dental services, care coordination, etc. all in a fully integrated setting” Chautauqua Center CEO Michael Pease said. “This award would not have been possible without the support and dedication of our elected officials. Since opening our first site in Dunkirk in 2013, they have been tremendously supportive and fully understand the changing state of health care toward a medical home model embedded in the primary care office.”
