NACHC honors Lance as 2015’s Community Health Champion

The National Association of
Community Health Centers (NACHC) recently honored U.S. Rep. Leonard
Lance (R-NJ) with the 2015 Distinguished Community Health
Champion Award in recognition of his long-standing commitment to community health centers across the nation and the millions of patients they care for regularly.

“We congratulate Congressman Lance for this award and for his leadership and support of our mission to expand access and provide affordable health care for the 23 million people served by health centers in New Jersey and across the country,” Eva Turbiner, president and CEO of New Jersey’s Zufall Health Center, said.

“Community health centers provide important medical services to millions of patients across the country who would otherwise lack access to care,” Lance said, after receiving the award. “Congress must continue to work together to support the role health centers play in preserving and expanding access to high-quality, cost-effective care in the communities they serve.”

Lance, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Health Subcommittee, and his House colleagues were thanked for their recent passage of the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015, which includes provisions to fund operations and training in community health centers across the country.

“Community health centers serve millions and bring high-quality, responsive care to all corners of the U.S. Health centers are a prudent national investment, generating billions in health savings, preventative care and thousands of jobs to local small businesses,” Lance said. “I will continue to work in a bipartisan fashion to strengthen community health centers.”
