Blunt amendments included in NDAA

A number of amendments authored by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) were included in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 that was recently signed into law by President Obama.

“I’m pleased that several of my amendments were included in this bipartisan legislation, which will ensure that our nation’s servicemen and women have the important resources they need to protect and defend America,” Blunt said.

Blunt’s Small Business Contracting Amendment shields small businesses that are contracted by the DoD from overbearing regulations. The measure ensures that the Small Business Act applies to every contract awarded through small business preference, regardless of which agency issues it.

The Article 32 Amendment, which was introduced by Blunt and a bipartisan group of senators, would prevent abusive questioning of military victims of sexual assault during pretrial hearings required under article 32 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Two additional amendments introduced by Blunt direct the Air Force to complete qualification of the advanced concept ejection seat on the B-2 and the DoD to handle prevention, care coordination and research of urotrauma as a distinct entity.

Another measure addresses conveyance of federal property in Kansas City, Mo., by authorizing a number of federal agencies to enter into agreements that will lead to a transfer of title and redevelopment of the property.
