Jenkins pushes for job creation, economic stability

House Republican Conference Vice Chairwoman Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kan.) said on Tuesday that America is in the worst economic state in decades on Tuesday and called for bipartisan solutions that promote economic growth.

“If you look at who is working and who isn’t, this is the worst economy since the late 1970s,” Jenkins said. “American families are struggling. They’re struggling because of the uncertainty in Washington, the uncertainty over a broken healthcare law, a broken tax code, stagnant job growth and more broken promises from this administration.”

Jenkins called for legislators in Washington to work together to achieve economic stability that will increase take-home pay for families.

“All across America, working moms and dads are looking for deals so they can get something for their children that is special for the holidays,” Jenkins said. “Many parents are trying to pick up second and even third jobs this holiday season, and they shouldn’t have to.”

Jenkins recently supported the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act, the Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act and the Protecting States’ Rights to Promote American Energy Security Act.

The measures, which were all passed by the House of Representatives in November, are designed to increase energy security and create a more favorable environment for job creation, Jenkins said.

“..The House passed three energy bills that will reduce energy costs for hardworking American families, move this country forward on job creation and protect U.S. energy production,” Jenkins said. “Not only do these bills make the government more efficient by curbing bureaucratic regulations, they expand our energy resources and could bring the United States $1.6 trillion in additional federal revenue over the next 10 years.”

Jenkins added that reliable and affordable energy is crucial to the nation’s economic growth
