Dent cosponsors Keep Your Health Plan Act

Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) became a cosponsor on Monday of the Keep Your Health Plan Act, which would allow those who were enrolled in a health plan on Jan. 1 to keep their plan regardless of Affordable Care Act mandates.

“The public record is quite clear,” Dent said. “President Obama told the public, routinely and without disclaimer, that ‘If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.’ The president said this throughout the 2012 presidential election. I have had scores of constituents calling my office telling me they want him to keep his promise.”

Dent called for swift action by Congress to approve the Keep Your Health Plan Act, which was recently introduced by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.).

“The disastrous roll out of the health insurance exchanges, higher costs for health plans and now the loss of current coverage for millions of Americans – with more likely to lose their coverage – emphasizes the serious flaws of Obama Care,” Dent said. “At a minimum, we should ensure that the president’s promise to the American people is kept and that Americans who like their coverage are able to keep it.”

CBS News recently reported that more than 2 million individuals were dropped from their current health plans due to the ACA.
