Boustany receives “Champion of the Merit Shop” award

Rep. Charles Boustany, Jr. (R-La.) recently received the “Champion of the Merit Shop” award from Louisiana Associated Builders and Contractors for his service in the 112th Congress.

The LABC is an association of diverse businesses that derive their livelihood from the construction industry. The organization has a proactive focus on being an influential association promoting the merit shop philosophy and the principles of free enterprise.

“I am honored to receive the Champion of the Merit Shop award from the Louisiana Associated Builders and Contractors,” Boustany said. “This outstanding organization represents a critical industry in South Louisiana, and I am humbled to have its support.”

Boustany was first elected to Congress in 2004 to represents Louisiana’s Third Congressional District that covers South Louisiana. The key issues he has focused on include health care reform, international trade, energy and business opportunities for U.S. produced goods and services. In addition, Boustany has been an advocate of revising the federal tax code to make it easier for American businesses to compete.

Boustany is a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee and sits on the subcommittees for Trade and Human Resources.
