Dent honored for support of manufacturing

Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) was one of 278 U.S. lawmakers from the 113th Congress recognized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) for supporting policies that enhance the manufacturing field.

With more than 563,000 Pennsylvania residents working in manufacturing, Dent said he was proud to receive the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence, as well as his 100-percent voting record on issues that NAM deemed vital to the industry.

“Manufacturing remains the foundation of America’s industrial might,” he said. “I supported legislation calling for liquid natural gas exports, tax relief for smaller manufacturers, reductions in burdensome regulations and many other important measures to make certain that remains the case.”

A NAM advisory committee made up of executives from small, mid-sized and large manufacturing companies designates the key manufacturing votes. Those lawmakers who support at least 70 percent of them earn the award.

Earlier this year, Dent received the National Federation of Independent Business’ Guardian of Small Business Award and the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for his pro-economic growth governance record.
