House Energy and Commerce Committee website highlights bipartisan accomplishments

Amid a 113th Congress that will be otherwise marred historically by its lack of bipartisan cooperation, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), continues to celebrate and promote its bipartisan accomplishments.

The committee had previously established a #RecordofSuccess Twitter hashtag to communicate its efforts. On Friday, it launched a website to do the same — in more than 140-character increments.

A large graphic atop the website at www.energycommerce.house.gov/recordofsuccess highlighted the committee’s record: 84 bills passed through the house, 32 bills signed into law and 52 bills awaiting Senate action.

“I’m very proud of our proven record of success and appreciate the continued bipartisan efforts made by our committee members,” Upton said. “In a time of partisan politics, the Energy and Commerce Committee has been able to rise above and get the job done, working together to make a difference for countless families.”

Upton noted in a release that every bill sponsored by the committee received Democratic votes in the House, and many left the House with a veto-proof margin and are awaiting action in the Senate.

“Our work continues, and we welcome the Senate to swiftly approve our bipartisan bills,” Upton said.
