Cassidy, McCarthy praise veterans traumatic brain injury bill

Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) applauded the House of Representatives for passing the Veterans Traumatic Brain Injury Care Improvement Act on Wednesday.

Cassidy previously successfully secured an extension of the program from five to eight years in a House and Senate Veterans Affairs reform bill. McCarthy was the original co-sponsor of the bill.

“We always pray that our veterans return home in good health and good spirits. If they do not, it is our duty to provide these men and women with the proper care they need,” Cassidy said. “For those suffering from traumatic brain injury, we can help them by enhancing a treatment program with proven results. Ensuring our veterans have access to quality treatment options is a priority.”

The act seeks to improve the quality of life of veterans affected by traumatic brain injury disorder by expanding rehabilitation services available.

“I am proud to have worked with Rep. Cassidy in making sure veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury have access to proper medical care and treatment when they return home,” McCarthy said. “Enhancing this successful program means more stability and certainty for veterans and their families. Louisiana veterans should be glad they have a doctor like Bill looking out for their best interests.”
