Young-supported resolution recognizing workforce development receives Senate OK

A bipartisan resolution introduced this week by U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) that would designate September 2022 as National Workforce Development Month  received approval from the U.S. Senate.

“Americans know that, in order to compete on the global stage, we must train our workers for the jobs of tomorrow. By investing in workforce training, we are investing in ourselves,” Sen. Young said. “This resolution highlights the importance of workforce development in providing a pathway to a meaningful career and a chance to live the American dream.”

Sen. Young signed on as the lead original cosponsor of Senate Resolution (S.Res.) 780, which is sponsored by U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and 27 other original cosponsors, including U.S. Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC), Steve Daines (R-MT), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Roger Wicker (R-MS), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Susan Collins (R-ME).

“Our resolution recognizes the vital role workforce development plays in growing America’s next generation of workers, as well as supporting the advancement of current professionals looking for new employment opportunities,” said Sen. Feinstein.

If enacted, the Senate resolution also states that the Senate supports federal initiatives to promote workforce development; and acknowledges that workforce development plays a crucial role in supporting workers and growing the economy, according to the text of the resolution.
