Blunt applauds investment in Missouri infrastructure projects

Infrastructure projects led by U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) to repair flood damage and improve flood control measures in Missouri received a $1.25 million investment from the Delta Regional Authority.

The recently announced investment will be used to improve the New Bourbon Port and to repair damage to the Ste. Genevieve Levee District II levee that resulted from flooding last year.

Blunt previously worked to secure additional resources to support flood control infrastructure projects in Ste. Genevieve and Perry counties.

“Last year’s flooding devastated families and communities in southeast Missouri,” Blunt said. “I’m glad that the Delta Regional Authority is moving forward with investments that will continue the recovery effort, better protect Missourians, and enhance economic growth in Ste. Genevieve and Perry Counties.”

In January, Blunt toured flood-damaged areas of Missouri and met with the Missouri National Guard to discuss ongoing efforts to control flooding on the lower Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau.

Blunt also successfully worked to secure additional resources to improve and modernize small ports in Missouri in the omnibus appropriations bill that was signed into law in December.
