Moran proposes bipartisan Military and Educational Data Integration Act

Bipartisan legislation recently sponsored by U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) would authorize the U.S. Defense Secretary to develop and implement a process for sharing military service data with states.

The Military and Educational Data Integration Act, S. 4588, which Sen. Moran introduced on June 18 alongside lead original cosponsor U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), aims to help states access military enlistment data to better inform students about military careers, according to a bill summary provided by Sen. Moran’s staff.

“Accurate, current and readily available information on career opportunities and outcomes will better enable state education systems to inform students of military career options post high school,” Sen. Moran said. “This legislation will open doors for students to pursue their interests through well-paid, meaningful careers in the military.”

S. 4588, which is under consideration by the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, is also cosponsored by U.S. Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV).
