Miller cosponsors bipartisan resolution honoring EMS personnel

The commitment and care that emergency medical services (EMS) personnel show their patients would be honored under a bipartisan resolution introduced last week by U.S. Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV).

“I’m glad to cosponsor this resolution during the 50th anniversary of National EMS Week and will continue to honor the personnel who ensure the safety of those in the community,” said Rep. Miller, who is one of 27 original cosponsors of House Resolution (H.Res.) 1252.

Sponsored by U.S. Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS), the resolution highlights the important contributions of EMS teams to deliver timely and needed care and support patients in rural and underserved areas, while also placing themselves in potentially dangerous situations, according to a summary provided by Rep. Miller’s staff.

If enacted, the resolution would honor their commitment and the importance of their role in America’s communities, the summary says.

“Emergency Medical Services play a critical role in saving lives across West Virginia and the United States,” Rep. Miller added. “Often, they put themselves at risk in order to protect the communities they serve.”

The congresswoman was joined by 26 other original cosponsors, including U.S. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Don Bacon (R-NE), Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA), Mike Carey (R-OH), John Moolenaar (R-MI), John Joyce (R-PA), Darin LaHood (R-IL), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), Dave Joyce (R-OH), and Debbie Dingell (D-MI).

H.Res. 1252 has been referred to the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee for consideration.
