Gonzales sponsors resolution calling for corrected immigration policies

U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) on April 5 sponsored a resolution denouncing the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

“Americans are fed up with President Biden’s broken immigration policies,” the congressman said. “The people of my district see it firsthand every day — the border crisis is in our backyard.”

Rep. Gonzales represents the largest border district in the U.S. House of Representatives, Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, which spans 823 miles of the Texas-Mexico border.

He proposed House Resolution (H.Res.) 1112, which would reaffirm House Republicans’ commitment to protecting the homeland, ensuring immigration laws are enforced, and holding the Biden administration accountable for its open borders agenda, according to a summary provided by the lawmaker’s staff.

For instance, H.Res. 112 would condemn the Biden administration for dismantling effective border security measures and immigration enforcement; incentivizing 9.5 million illegal immigrants from around the world to arrive at the nation’s southern border; allowing at least 6.4 million illegal immigrants from the southern border to travel to American communities; and engaging in mass catch-and-release policies and abusing the nation’s asylum process, the summary says.

The resolution also would urge the Biden administration to correct its immigration policies and mitigate the national security threats that have ensued, the summary says.

“My resolution takes this administration to task for its failure to protect our homeland and keep Americans safe,” said Rep. Gonzales. “I urge my colleagues to support this legislation and say that enough is enough.”
