Bipartisan legislation offered by U.S. Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND) aims to attract, develop and retain highly skilled cybersecurity professionals in America’s federal workforce.
“This is all about ensuring the federal government has the professionals needed to meet our nation’s cybersecurity challenges,” Sen. Hoeven said.
Sen. Hoeven on April 13 signed on as the lead original cosponsor of the Federal Rotational Cyber Workforce Program Act, S. 1097, with bill sponsor U.S. Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) to establish a federal rotational cyber workforce program for the federal cybersecurity workforce.
The program authorized under S. 1097 would offer civilians opportunities to enhance their careers, gain experience beyond their primary assignments, and expand their professional networks, according to information provided by Sen. Hoeven’s staff.
“Our bipartisan bill will help the federal government train and retain cybersecurity professionals to meet growing demand,” said Sen. Hoeven. “By developing a rotational cyber workforce program, this legislation will enable federal employees to serve across multiple government agencies and expand their skills.”
The bill has been referred to the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for consideration.
