Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus expands membership

The bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus added five new members this week under the leadership of U.S. Reps. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) and Ted Deutch (D-FL).

Curbelo and Deutch co-chair the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus to help educate members about economically viable options to alleviate climate risk and to explore bipartisan policies to address the impacts, causes and challenges of the changing climate.

“We have a lot of work to do on this issue, and communities like mine in South Florida are counting on us to come together and have productive discussions about what we can do to mitigate the effects of climate change and make our nation more resilient,” Curbelo said. “The caucus has such a diverse group of members, and we’ve gained great momentum only a few weeks into the 115th Congress.”

U.S. Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Don Beyer (D-VA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mia Love (R-UT) and Brian Mast (R-FL) became the latest members to join the Climate Solutions Caucus, which now has 10 members from each side of the aisle.

“I’d like to thank Reps. Love, Stefanik, Fitzpatrick, Mast and Beyer for joining our group, and I’m looking forward to working with them and the rest of the caucus on solutions that will protect our environment and unleash a new era of American innovation,” Curbelo said.

Deutch said the caucus is starting the 115th Congress by expanding its membership and showing colleagues that Republicans and Democrats can put partisan politics aside for work on climate change.

“These new members represent diverse regions of the country, from upstate New York to the Mountain West, and they have shown their readiness to find bipartisan solutions for this crisis,” Deutch said.
