Kinzinger resolution aims to recognize Mideast nations aiding Syrian refugees

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) recently introduced a resolution supporting Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon in their efforts to provide assistance to those displaced by the conflict in Syria.

“I was in the region earlier this year, and I saw the human tragedy that has occurred,” Kinzinger said. “I stood in the U.N. refugee camp and had a little girl come up to me and explain through a translator how her parents were killed by ISIS and how she ran away fleeing for security. I realized the important role that the United States of America and its global partners need to play to help those fleeing from the murder and brutality committed by ISIS and the Assad regime.

Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon are offering assistance to the refugees in the form of housing, educational assistance, health care and other forms of humanitarian aid.

Kinzinger said these Mideast nations should be recognized for stepping up to help those in need during this humanitarian calamity.

“I want to commend them for their commitment to helping mitigate the ongoing crisis in Syria,” Kinzinger said.
