Missouri lawmaker honored by National Association of Manufacturers

U.S. Rep. Billy Long (R-MO) received the Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Award from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) on Thursday.

NAM, a nationwide organization representing manufacturers of all sizes, selected Long for the award for his strong record of demonstrating a pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda, which facilitates the success of American businesses in a global economy.

“Hard work has shaped our American history,” Long said. “It is a priority of mine to make sure southwest Missouri and America’s manufacturers continue to have the steam to forge a strong future. The only way we can build that reality is to cut Washington’s unnecessary red tape and create a tax structure conducive for business.”

Long’s district in Missouri includes nearly 875 manufacturing firms employing approximately 38,500 manufacturing workers.

He was given the award during a ceremony at Leggett & Platt’s Flex-O-Lators facility in Carthage, Missouri, during his annual tour of manufacturing businesses in the southwest region of his home state.

“It is an honor to receive the Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Award, and I promise to remain a champion for policies to help business, create jobs and grow our economy,” Long said.
