Lance continues aggressive push for cancer funding

Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.) recently received the Public Policy Award for Research from the Cancer Support Community for his work and advocacy on cancer and cancer treatment issues in Congress.

“I am honored to accept the Cancer Supper Community’s Public Policy Award for Research and applaud the important work they do on behalf of cancer patients and their families,” Lance said.

CSC is the largest, professionally-led nonprofit network of cancer support in the world. It provided more than $40 million in services, including support groups, educational workshops, exercise programs and social activities to cancer patients and their families in 2012.

Kim Thiboldeaux, the president of CSC, praised Lance for his leadership and support in making a positive impact on cancer patients and their loved ones.

“We are so grateful to have the strong support of Congressman Lance and his unwavering commitment,” Thiboldeaux said. “His leadership has been inspirational as we embark on this new initiative to advance our mission to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.”

Lance reintroduced the Breast Cancer Patient Education Act in June to help educate women about breast reconstruction and care options following cancer treatments.
