Stivers nominates Ohio students to military academies

U.S. Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) released his nominees to the United States military academies on Monday.

“It is an honor to nominate these outstanding students to the U.S. military academies,” Stivers said. “As a colonel in the Ohio Army National Guard, I thank these students for their interest in serving our nation in such a meaningful and important way. I also would like to thank Ohio’s 15th District Academy Review Board for their thoughtful recommendations and assistance in interviewing the students.”

Students wishing to pursue a nomination to a United States military academy submit an application and are interviewed extensively by their congressman’s review board. Applicants are measured on their leadership, investment in their community and academic excellence.

Stivers long list included some of Ohio’s top high school students from across the 15th Congressional District.

The following students were nominated by Stivers: Lydia LaRue (Clearcreek High School) to West Point; John Lemaster (Clearcreek High School) to West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy; Kristin Riggs (Canal Winchester High School) to West Point; Brice Bailey (Columbus Academy) to the Air Force Academy; Benjamin Tobin (Fairfield Christian Academy/Ohio University) to West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and the Air Force Academy; Tazz Ashbaugh (Fairfield Union High School) to the U.S. Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy; Carlos Rodriguez (Fairfield Union High School) to West Point; Rachel Hawthorn (Liberty Union High School) to the U.S. Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy; Tearence Lane (Pickerington Central High School) to the U.S. Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy; Matthew Musso (Pickerington Central High School) to the U.S. Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy; Durkin Ross (Pickerington Central High School/Ohio State University) to the Air Force Academy; Eli Fraizer (William V.
