Reed highlights 2014 accomplishments

Speaking to his constituents and fellow lawmakers, U.S. Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) reiterated his successes in 2014 by highlighting the six bills introduced to Congress by his office that were passed into law.

“Our 2014 legislative accomplishments reflect the positive ways we care for our district,” Reed said. “In a time of hyper-partisanship, it’s only fair that our constituents get results that cut through political noise. Having six bills signed into law demonstrates that we can get things done. We’re not just talking the talk, we’re walking the walk.”

Reed’s legislative victories included the passing of the Further Continuing Appropriations Act, the HOSPICE Act provisions (IMPACT), the Unnecessary Cap Act (Medicare), Rural Hospital Access Act (Medicare), and post office building designations for Specialists Christopher Scott and Ryan P. Jayne.

Additionally, several Reed-endorsed bills have passed the House and will be moving toward becoming law in 2015. These include the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act, the Mortgage Forgiveness Act, the Motorsports Depreciation Act, and amendments to bills covering energy, commerce, justice and farming.

“As we reflect on what we have accomplished together in 2014, it makes me optimistic for 2015,” Reed said. “With a new Congress, there will be new opportunities to create jobs and have a positive impact on the lives of those who live in New York’s 23rd District.”
