Fischer, Ernst accompany Trump to celebrate year-round E-15 sales

U.S. Sens. Deb Fischer (R-NE) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) accompanied the president to celebrate year-round sales of fuel blends containing gasoline and up to 15 percent ethanol, also known as E-15.

“I want to thank President Trump for making the year-round sale of E-15 a reality for farmers and ethanol producers in the Heartland,” said Sen. Fischer.

She and Sen. Ernst joined President Donald Trump, U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler to travel aboard Air Force One to Nebraska and Iowa to highlight last year’s official announcement allowing year-round E-15 sales.

“It was exciting to travel with the president and deliver this great news with him. This change is something I’ve long pushed for because it will create economic opportunities for hardworking men and women in Nebraska and across rural America,” said Sen. Fischer, whose home state is ranked second in the nation in biofuel production and has 25 operating ethanol plants.

Sen. Ernst on June 11 tweeted: “What a great day in #Iowa! Summer driving season is here and E-15 is available at the pump.”

She called it an honor to have the president in Iowa, where she said, “We’ve worked hard to deliver year-round E-15 for Iowans & unleash the economic potential of ethanol.”

Sen. Ernst added that year-round E-15 sales “is a sure sign of @realdonaldtrumpkeeping his promise.”

“W/his help, we’re cutting Washington’s bureaucratic red tape & unleashing the pent up demand for Iowa-grown biofuel,” she tweeted. “If we listen closely, we might even hear Washington squeal over this one!”
