U.S. Rep. Charles Bosutany (R-LA) welcomed the news that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has authorized the Sabine Pass Expansion Project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
“This is very exciting news,” Boustany said. “This announcement will allow the Sabine Pass facility to expand its operations, creating more Louisiana jobs and exporting more Louisiana-made LNG all over the world.”
The project, managed by Cheniere Energy, will expand the Sabine Pass facility, allowing it to export an additional 1.38 billion cubic feet (bcf) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) out of Louisiana to countries that do not have a free-trade agreement (FTA) with the U.S. This would be on top of the 2.2 bcf that the DOE previously approved for exportation from the facility nearly three years ago. The State of Louisiana already is the front runner for LNG exports, and the Sabine project will help solidify that position.
“This development will contribute to Louisiana’s continued dominance of the U.S. LNG market and ensure that our state remains the premier energy producer nationwide,” Boustany said.
